Your journey begins from the commercial capital of India at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Tea and Dinner will be served on board.
Day 02 : Ratnagiri
You'll open your eyes at the Bhoke Railway Station in the morning. You'll be served your breakfast on board and thereafter you'll be headed towards Rai Jetty by a well furnished AC bus. You'll be taken to the Jaigadh Fort on a boat. The other destinations that you'll visit are Ganapatipule and Ratnagiri. You'll be served your dinner on board as you'll spend the night travelling in the comfort of Deccan Odyssey hospitality.
Day 03 : Sindhudurg
Arrive at the station in the morning. We'll take you to Malvan on an air conditioned luxury bus and from there you'll visit Sindhudurg Fort by a boat. Other places that you'll visit are Tarkali Beach Resort, Sawantwadi after which you'll come back to your train for the luxurious journey ahead.
Day 04 : Goa
Arrive at the Karmali railway station in the morning to board a bus to visit tourist spots in old Goa. Churches, museums, antiques ... you'll have plenty of options to choose from. When you are through with all this, head towards Panjim by bus. You'll be served your lunch at the Fort Aguada Beach resort. The other attractions that you'll visit are Dona Paula Beach, Fontanhas after which you'll return to your train at Madgaon railway station.
Day 05 : Pune City
Pune is a city replete with places to see. Pune deserves at least a day to have a thorough look at the attractions here.
Day 06 : Aurangabad
After your arrival at Aurangabad in the morning, we'll take you to the historical Daulatabad Fort. The next attractions to be visited are the famous Ellora caves, Shivaji Museum, Bibi ka Maqbara etc. You'll board the train in the evening.
Day 07 : Ajanta Caves and Nasik
Jalgaon is the railway station where you'll arrive in the morning and proceed to visit renowned Ajanta caves. Afterwards you'll board the train at Bhusawal railway station to visit Nasik. You'll leave for Mumbai after having a farewell dinner.
Day 08 : Mumbai
You'll have your breakfast on board as you'll soon be in Mumbai in the morning itself.
Palace on Wheels rolls on from Delhi Cantonment Railway Station every Wednesday. But before the luxury train sets off to the colorful journey of Rajasthan, guests are accorded a traditional welcome. As the day gives way to the night, the luxury on wheels chugs its way out of the railway station.
Day 2: Jaipur-Jaisalmer
Jaipur-the Pink City is the first destination on your tour. A group of caparisoned elephants greet you on your arrival in Jaipur. Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 founded Jaipur.
An air-conditioned coach takes you on a sightseeing tour of the Pink City. Jaipur is famous for its historic monuments and its colorful bazaars. You visit many beautiful monuments in Jaipur on your sightseeing tour of Jaipur. The historic monuments of Jaipur are the silent sentinels of the Rajasthan royal era. A time when Rajput kings used to hold sway in and around Jaipur. They ordered construction of impregnable forts and beautiful havelis, all of which you come across on your sightseeing tour. Some of the important landmarks that you visit include Hawa Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, and Amber Fort. Shopping is an exciting experience in Jaipur. You shop for exquisite handicraft items, jewellery and textiles.
Enjoy your lunch at Rambagh Palace, one of the finest hotels in Jaipur. After lunch take a tour of the City Palace. The City Palace houses some of the beautiful havelis and mansions in Jaipur. You also visit Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory in India built by Sawai Jai Singh II. Return to Palace on Wheels for dinner and onwards journey to Jaisalmer.
Day 3: Jaisalmer-Jodhpur
Jaisalmer is situated in the heart of the Thar Desert. Rawal Jaisal founded the city of Jaisalmer in 1156 AD. The city is famous for its havelis and forts that dot the landscape of Jaisalmer. On your sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer, you visit various beautiful havelis. Some of the havelis that you come across on your sightseeing tour include the Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli.
The other activities marked for the day are shopping at Rajasthali, which is a Rajasthan government emporium that offers various handicraft items like embroidered articles, silvery jewellery, pattu shawls, wooden boxes and trinkets. Lunch is on board Palace on Wheels, after which, you head for the camel ride on the sand dunes. The exciting activity will be followed by a refreshing cup of tea. Dinner marks the grand finale of your day at Jaislamer with various cultural programs. Departure for Jodhpur.
Day 4: Jodhpur - Sawai Madhopur
You arrive in Jodhpur, the city founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 AD. Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. The Mehrangarh Fort is the prime attraction in Jodhpur that houses various beautiful havelis and mansions. You visit the fort and a number of important palaces like Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Sileh Khana, Phool Mahal and Daulat Khana. You also head to Jaswant Thanda near by, which is a group of beautiful royal cenotaphs. Shopping is another exciting activity that you enjoy in Jodhpur. After lunch at Umaid Bhawan Palace, the Palace on Wheels rolls on to take you to Sawai Madhopur.
Day 5: Sawai Madhopur- Chittaurgarh
The day is marked to enjoy wildlife at the Ranthambore National Park. Sawai Madhopur is the nearest railhead to Ranthambore National Park. After breakfast you head for a date with inhabitants of the jungle at the park. The park is home to a number of wild animals and about 300 species of the birds. In the precincts of the park are the ruins of a 10th century fort-Ranthambore Fort. After visiting the park and the fort you head for your onward journey to Chittaurgarh.
Day 6: Chittaurgarh - Udaipur
Chittaurgarh symbolizes the bravery and determination of the Rajput warriors of Rajasthan. The city was attacked three times and every time Rajput warriors showed their mettle to the attackers. They preferred death to dishonor. After visiting Chittaurgarh, you will proceed to Udaipur-the city of lakes.
Day 7: Udaipur -Bharatpur
Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh of Mewar in 1559 AD. The city is famous for its beautiful lakes and palaces. You visit various beautiful places of tourist interest on your sightseeing tour of Udaipur. Lake Pichola is an important landmark in Udaipur. There are many beautiful monuments located on the banks of Lake Pichola. Some of the beautiful places you visit in Udaipur include the Lake Palace and City Palace. You enjoy lunch at the Lake Palace Hotel, after which you head to other wonderful places in Udaipur. The coach will then take you to Chittaurgarh, where you proceed to Bharatpur aboard Palace on Wheels.
Day 8: Bharatpur-Agra
Bharatpur is known for Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Also known as Bharatpur bird sanctuary the park teems with birds and is a paradise for bird lovers. You get to see a large number bird species in the sanctuary. After your date with the avian species, the luxury train rolls on to the city of the Taj-Agra.
Day 9: Agra-Delhi
You visit Fatehpur Sikri, which is near Agra. Fatehpur Sikri was once the capital during the reign of the Mughal emperor Akbar. Fatehpur Sikri is a classic example of the Hindu and Mughal architecture. It is a palatial complex, which has beautiful palaces, mansions and mosque. You, then proceed to visit one of the most beautiful monuments in the world-Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The other important monument you visit in Agra is the Red Fort of Agra. The fort houses many beautiful palaces inside.
After dinner onboard the Palace on Wheels…you open your eyes at Delhi Cantonment Railway Station. After farewell breakfast you bid goodbye to the Palace on Wheels. Tour ends.
